Jess and Caylee

A little while ago I did a photo-shoot with Caylee and Jess. The day was good and it was a great laid back photo-shoot with quite a lot of laughs.  Here are a couple of the photos from the shoot.  Caylee and Jess were great models. More photos from the shoot can be found on my facebook page.

2012

2012 has arrived.  It even feels like a brand new year but that’s most likely because I’m really pushing for a change this year. In the past, New Years Day has just felt like another day.  Nothing has ever felt special about this day. Nothing has ever felt special about staying up to welcome the New Year in. Why bother?  When I was younger it was something thrilling because midnight was way past my bedtime.  As I got older staying up wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be.  So last night I went to bed early and planned to get up early as I normally do.  I blocked out everything, the traffic on the highway and the neighbours having their usual New Years Eve party.  Until a little before one in the morning when the party got a little bit louder and it woke little Jorjie up.  She went crazy, she jumped up and down barking and carrying on. She finally settled down and I slept in until nearly six in the morning.  Everything was silent when I woke this morning, there was no traffic, there was nobody talking or making any noise. The only person that I assume was up at the same time was my father who had been up before me.  There was no spectacular sunrise, it was very bleak outside and it has remained bleak.  It’s not cold but it’s not warm either.

New Years Eve seems like such a great time to decide to make changes, it’s a brand new year approaching and there’s this little voice inside your head saying “just do it next year” but how many people stick to their new found goals? I never do so I stopped making so many unrealistic ones. But every year since I was a child I did decide to stop biting my finger nails. And I’ve failed every year until late 2011 when I managed to let them grow to normal length. I still bite them so I can’t claim to have succeeded but I just know that by New Years Eve 2012 I will not need to make this a goal anymore.  The internet isn’t the place to put my other much more personal New Year’s Resolutions. Nobody apart from me is to know about them but another goal of mine for this year is to read 500 books that I’ve never read before.

Please enjoy my first two photographs of the year. I normally do a sunrise but it was so bleak this morning around here that there wasn’t anything to photograph.

Anglesea Barracks Open Day

On Saturday 3rd December, Anglesea Barracks held an open day to mark 200 years.  I went along with my Dad to check out the old buildings and have a stroll around the barracks.  It was an enjoyable day, we got their very early to beat the crowds through the gates. We decided to look in the museum first as neither of us had ever been there before.  The museum is amazing and I strongly recommend it as a place to visit, it’s open to the public and I’m sure times can be found online.  There are wonderful photographs lining the walls of the museum, the displays are astounding and I’m told that they change them around constantly.  I saw a lot of war medals including a Victoria Cross, which excited me as I’d only ever seen photos of them.  Uniforms were on display and they were in such good condition.  Dad and I spent a fair bit of time looking through the museum and a display set aside from the museum that was full of uniforms, helmets, belts and information about the regiments over the years.

Which Way Is Right

This photography is the right way up.  I took it as I was about to walk in my front door. Yet something seems strange about it. Perhaps it's the white thing stuck up the top.  Well, whatever it is, my picture looks like it could go in all directions but still look upside down.  It's really bothering me but I really do like the picture.

Happy Birthday Cocoa

Today is Cocoa's 9th Birthday.  As I write this he is sitting on the back of the lounge enjoying the sun that's coming through the window.  I can't believe he's nine, it still feels like yesterday when we were bringing him home for the first time.

Sun and Rain

The other day I left the house and there was a bright blue sky, a couple of fluffy white clouds and it was warm.  I'm glad I brought my gloves and big coat with me, it ended up becoming windy, cold and raining heavily.  I love spring.
